Ascent Trip ReportTook Bull of the Woods since the rangers had no information on avalanche danger and I was told no one hikes the mountain in the winter. I started at the trailhead at around 6. First 1.8 miles had tracks. There were minimal signs or markers from there. I ended up looking around for 30 minutes to an hour trying to find the trail. I evenetually picked a clear path with no footprints. I continued to follow that in the right direction. I never saw any signs for the trail so I took crossover trail to frazer road where I bushwhacked to the ridge and got the trail again. The whole time i was breaking trail from between ankle deep to knee deep. As I got above treeline wind was a sustained 30 mph. I followed the trail that went through snow drifts waist deep. I skirted below and above most of them. As I got on top of the ridge the wind was around 50 mph. Due to time, weather and remaining trail all needing to be broken I decided to turn around at 12,217. |
