Ascent Trip Report5-peak day in the Angeles NF with Christine. We had limited time due to my symphony performance, so we spent the day bagging a few peaks that were short-ish hikes that we wouldn't normally do on an epic day. The hikes included: Pacifico, Hillier, Mooney, Vetter, and Salley. Finished hiking by 2:15 pm and headed back to San Diego. Started hiking at exactly 7:03 am.
Pacifico - left SD at approx 4:30 and drove to the Angeles Crest Hwy (endless!). Found our turn-off.... about 4.3 miles of off road driving until a downed tree prevented any further progress. We hiked the extra .5 miles to the PCT TH and stared on our hike. Easy trail to follow and once we came to the wide saddle on the NE part of the peak, we split off and made our way towards the peak. Easy to navigate and there was a big of bright blue and red spots of color in the surrounding area. Closed parking lot and picnic area at the top. Highest rock formation was the peak and the USGS survey marker and peak list confirmed. Returned the way we came via a cross country route to the PCT and then back to the car. Hiking time for 10.5 approx miles was 3:10 or 3:15. Nice start to the day!
