Ascent Trip ReportHeard this trail was mostly melted, and wanted some elevation. Jumped a black bear only 0.4 mile from the road. Trail in fairly good shape. A dozen or so blowdowns; most were easily stepped over, a couple had to go around. Middle third had a lot of snowberry brush invading the trail. It was easy to push through, but shorts may be uncomfortable. First snow on trail at 6700msl. Patchy at first, but by 6800msl it was solid and probably up to 10ft deep until the summit boulders, which were dry. Final 6ft climb onto the summit boulder was a little scary. I didn't like the way that metal bar for a footstep angled down away from the rock. Looked slick, but my boot never slid off. Still, I gripped that old lookout anchor on the top as though my life depended on it.
Great view of the Enchantment Peaks and Mt Stuart. Glacier Peak would have been nice, but blocked by the scattered cumulus in between.
Scouted the Icicle Ridge Trail that runs along the top to descend near Leavenworth. Appeared to still be solid snow.
