Ascent Trip ReportFull Trip Summary:
Nice Memorial Day hike across the Pack Monadnocks! We started from Miller State Park parking lot and took the Wapack trail up to Pack Monadnock summit. Climbed the fire tower and got some nice views. Mostly clear day could see Grand Monadnock, some Vermont peaks, and Wachusett Mt. in Mass. Could also see Kearsage and Cardigan Mts. looking North.
From here we decided to hike the ridgeline on Wapack Trail over to Middle and North Pack Monadnock peaks. View from North Pack was somewhat blocked by trees so we took a detour along the Cliff Trail loop and enjoyed lunch up on the cliffs with a great view back toward the fire tower on Pack Monadnock. Met back up with Wapack trail and hiked back up to Pack Monadnock.
The return hike from Pack Monadnock we decided to take the Marion Jones trail instead of Wapack back down to parking lot. Overall these are not the biggest mountains but they have some nice views and well maintained trail. The whole trip combined was over 8 miles and 2000+ in elevation, so not bad for a southern NH day hike!
