Ascent Trip Report

It was a day off and i was not really feeling to happy so i usually use hiking as an escape for those kinds of days. the only problem was that it was raining. I drove my car to walker lake and parked it there and walked around the lake and went walked up a small trail leading to weyerhouser mainline rd i followed that road a until i found an old unmaintained trail. i started up the hill soon the trail became so over grown that it was hardly a trail. after a while i got to a nice steep 45 degree slope. i started climbing that until i got to a cliff. this was something that i was not expecting. i found a spot where i climbed up pretty simply just to be welcomed by another cliff about 100' after that one. i couldn't really find a scramble up the second cliff so i decided to go for some free soloing. this was very hard because of the rain and the moss covering the rocks!! i ended up falling about 15' after i slipped on a loose rock. i brushed it off and stared climbing another section i ended up making it up that cliff which was about 30'. by this time my pants and my jacket were soaked through and the water from my jeans started dripping down my legs into my boots. as i looked ahead i saw what looked like the summit so excitedly i kept scrambling up the hill and i realized that there was another cliff after that one and this last one was at least 200'. I decided i was done of the day and decided to head back. finding a way back was not too fun. i didn't want to scale down the cliff so i decided to walk along the edge until i found a way down. soon i ran into a steam that provided a nice slope down. this very hard too because there was no trails in this section of the woods so there was a lot of bushwhack until i ran into an animal trail which i followed down to weyerhouser mainline rd. on the way back i noticed beware of security dogs signs which i didnt see on my way up. Well im glad that i didnt run into any either way. i wish this mountain wasnt so closed off. it is such a majestic mountain and it has such a great view from the top (i only got a glimpse at around 2200') Its a shame that a logging company has taken such a beauty from everyone and doesn't even use it for its self... I really wish they would leave that mountain.
