Ascent Trip ReportSaranac Lake 6er kickoff. Aborted Haystack yesterday due to extremely high water stemming from the terrible weather. Despite the cold however, it was fun enjoying the activities on the green in town later, which included presentation to the descendents of 46er number 1, a plaque that will later go on Saranac Lake's walk of fame. A dozen people amazingly did manage to complete the kickoff "Ultra" challenge nevertheless, hats off to them as it is quite an achievement in even the best weather as far as I am concerned. We did make Scarface today, at least. Snow higher up on the mountain from yesterday (above about 2500'), mud just about everywhere else further down. |
