Ascent Trip Report

This was one of those great highpoints where your worries are washed away. I really needed Hutchinson as it would connect McCook and Douglas counties to complete my chain across South Dakota. When I parked at the fence line .5 miles between 290th and 291st on 406th, there was a wonderful sign. The land on the north side of the fence is private property that is leased for walk in hunters. I walked the fence line hunting for the highpoint and found it right on the fence where a rock as big as two fists was in the ground and directly in the path of animals going through the tall grasses. Great views to 180 degrees to the south and small pines were growing on the north in rows. It was a quick walk back to the car with my South Dakota link up complete.
