Awesome hike along the PCT with lots of wildflowers, boulders, and great views all the way. Just as we reached the use trail to the summit we checked out the little lookout point, then headed up the very steep trail to the top of Combs Peak (6193 ft). Found the station benchmark and both reference benchmarks no. 1 and no. 2. Incredible views in all directions from this very remote and prominent peak, including the san jacinto mountains, santa rosa mountains, hot springs mountain and more.
Drive a hearty vehicle to this hike, the 4.8 miles on Lost Valley road is pretty rough and rocky although i persevered and made it in my 2wd honda.
Use trail to the summit from the PCT is marked with a large cairn shown below and the steep summit trail is well ducked from there.
