Ascent Trip Report

To attach this summit, I continued up the roadway from Thorny Flat and found Thorny Flat Road. Staying right I found the parking lot for the ski lodge and off down slope was a large gravel parking lot away from the workers cleaning up the site after ski season ending.

I parked here for convenience and then wanted to find a TH far down slope so I hiked down Thorny flat road, short cutted a steep power easement, reaquired the paved road and hiked down to the utility building that brings all the electricity to the ski resort. Around the last bend I found a creek (Black Run) and a concrete dam and spillway. Touching the water and calling that my TH, I reclimbed the roadway past my car and over to the ski slopes. I found the green run bail out slope and headed up it. It was still covered with snow and was slick and icey so I used microspikes the rest of the way. At the top of the last chair lift I found a small maintenance trail that works it way up to the peak and then behind it with great open clear views where I enjoyed some brief sunshine as the temperature warmed to 30 degrees.

I saw many deet and spooked up a rough grouse on the way. I started at 10:30 and was done and down by 12:20 including lunch.
