Ascent Trip Report

Lone Mountain is located in the Cumberland Mountains (Lone Mountain State Forest) of Morgan County, Tennessee. The trail system is built for horses and mountain bikers, but it's also open to hikers. The trailhead is located along Clayton Howard Road, just off US-27 between Harriman and Wartburg. To reach the summit, take the main trail to Coyote Point. Just before reaching Coyote Point, there is a faint trail (but well-marked by ribbons) leading to the summit. There is a Tennessee Forestry Division benchmark at the summit, but no view. Coyote Point, however, is a cliff on the south side of the mountain with a 180-degree view.
