Ascent Trip Report

This was the Third hike of the season, i wanted to head out one more time before i had to start my training for my new job on campus. My originally plan was to hike snows mountain. But unfortunately i was unable to find the parking lot due to the winter snow. Looks like the parking lot was not plowed out, I took a second look at the map and i saw this trail, i noticed it was pretty steep but i also noticed that it was only 1.3 miles to the top of this peak. I decided to give it a shot, i started at the sandwich mtn trail parking lot. right from the start it was steep. around 1/2 mile into the hike i was at 2,000 feet in elevation. This hike put me to a stop about 5-6 times. the view from the top of this was a little outlook, but man was it cool, it was about a 150 degree view of the valley below and the awesome sandwich range. There was a couple spots that you need to use extreme caution with this hike, when you look at the map, near those switchbacks, it can get VERY dicey. and watch the weather too because it was sunny when i started and when i got to the top it was beginning to snow pretty hard. This hike i would recommend to mid-advanced hikers, there is a bunch of tough inclines and its one that you need to use caution, if you are looking to use this trail for the sandwich dome, i would recommend a different trail, this one is really steep, it wore me out and i wasn't even half way, use caution and take your time and good luck if you take it on.
