Ascent Trip ReportAttempted to drive to Wendover Woods using satnav route, but couldn't make it up a 14% snow-covered single-track road - gave up after smelling a burning clutch...later found out it would've been easier approaching it from the other direction. So we had to reverse down and start the walk from Hale Lane, which fortuitously was just off our intended route. Walked up to Pavis Wood (Herts county top) first - a nondescript corner of a field/bend in the road - before walking along to Wendover Woods to bag Haddington Hill (Bucks county top and highest point in the Chilterns apparently). Then grabbed a coffee and cake in the nearby cafe before walking back down to the car and completing the circular walk. Plenty of snow around, making it a bit more interesting - these two county tops are pretty flat and uninspiring. With Richard, Timi and Winnie. |
