Ascent Trip ReportLong loop hike that was possible only because of compacted snowmobile trails due to beautiful light and deepish snow that had been falling all week in the Laurel Highlands.
We were staying in Linn Run State Park Cabin 1. I took the Quarry Snowmobile Trail from the park office up to the Weaver Road to the abundant radio and phone towers on the top. "Bald" it was absolutely not! But the forest was sublime with riming ice and snow on every branch! I returned via the main Linn Run Road on well compacted snow. I think this was close to an 8 mile loop judging by how my body felt slipping and trying to gain traction in the snowmobile track.
