Ascent of Sloan Peak on 1988-08-28
|Date:||Sunday, August 28, 1988|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||7835 ft / 2388 m|
Ascent Trip ReportTook NF-4081 road to Bedal Creek trail which had just been brushed out,
good trail to timberline. Worked our way around to the SE side where
we took the lower shelf(shown in Beckey guide), this was mostly easy but some steepish glacier polished slabs where
you have to be careful,may want rock shoes for this part. Don't know how this route would work now but in 1988 it was an easier route than the glacier,we did it as a day trip: no glacier or creeks to cross! Didn't use a rope on the way down but I remember using a rope to get down the slabs, went off to the side down a gully, hard to protect.
