Ascent Trip Report

I returned to the site of my first solo hike today (11/14/2012) after school to get out for a bit and to see if the area had changed in the past year.

It has definitely changed, that's for sure! In a good way, too! To the left of the trailhead with the stone walls is a brand new parking lot, which was not there when I last hiked Hooksett Pinnacle. A short connecting path leads to the main trail.

The trails looked like they were better maintained than on my previous hike here. There are also signs pointing the way, which are also new. The single-track part of the trail is also marked with blue ribbons (new).

When I got to the summit, the views were still very good and extended all the way to Fort Mountain. I took them in, got a sip of water, and headed back down.

My point is that this area, which is owned by the town of Hooksett, was not like it is now. Back a year ago, there was no parking lot, the trails weren't maintained to such a high degree, and there were no trail signs or marks. The Town of Hooksett has really made Hooksett Pinnacle a nice place to go take a walk in the woods up a small peak with great views, and I applaud them for taking the time to revamp this area. I will probably come here more in the future.
