Ascent Trip Report

Chickasaw county Mississippi has two contours above 580 feet a few miles northwest of the hamlet of Woodland.

To reach it, take Jackson Street south out of Houston and then bear right on to MS-15 and head toward Woodland.
Turn right (west) onto Logan St, then right on Market St and left on Main St in town.
Follow Main St out of town until it becomes County Rd 70 and heads northwest. The high points are about 3.5 miles from Market and Main St in Woodland.

The eastern contour is small and on the right (north) side of the road as it crests a hill. There is no radio antenna here as Fred Dale indicated in 2001.
The western contour is a little further down the road on the left (south) and does have an antenna on it. This contour is larger and likely higher than the other.

There is a fire tower southwest of the highpoints but I did not see it until I was at the high points and did not back track to visit it. If it is open, it would offer a great view of the surrounding country side.

On this trip, I combined visiting Pontotoc county, Clay county, Chickasaw county and Calhoun county, in that order.
The roads between Chickasaw and Clay are passable and take just under an hour.
The roads between Chickasaw and Calhoun are passable and take just under an hour as well.
