Ascent Trip ReportThe views from this peak are outstanding.
I'm not sure if it was because this was the last hike of the day, but I found this hike to be one of the most strenuous climbs (albeit relatively short) that I have done recently. There is no trail most of the way. You need to hike up a steep slope, often through short, prickly bushes. I tried to go over the rocks to avoid the brush, but found the going difficult.
If you are trying to follow the Sierra Club Route 1 directions, the forest road to the trailhead has been gated and locked -- at least the day that I was there. To get to the trailhead, you must travel eastbound on FR 2N13 from the Green Valley Campground.
