Ascent Trip Report

Stockaid BM is the highest I've ever stood. From a peakbagger's perspective, though, this is low-hanging fruit, less than a mile round-trip walk from the spectacular Beartooth Highway. A couple of miles to the east, Point 10982 is even easier. Both rank among the 5,000 highest peaks in the US.

On US212, park at Beartooth Pass (8 miles east of the Top of the World store) and follow an unmarked but obvious path across a rocky alpine meadow, heading toward the right flank of the apparent summit until the true summit comes into view. You'll find the BM on the left side of the horseshoe-shaped outcropping.
