Ascent Trip ReportFinal summit of a CHP of the day. Found the entrance to the nice subdivision easily and no guard gate. The recession has hit real estate hard here. There were some nice homes but many vacant lots.
I parked in the R/W along a stretch of road that was over grown and no houses developed near my car. Then I jogged up the road and found a jeep trail up a very steep side of the mountain where this former ski lift was located. Within 20 steps I had picked up over 50 sandspurs and they were poking me ever step. Sandspurs in Michigan? I had no idea. I thought they were only an annoyance found in the beaches of Florida.
I thought that the structure at the top of the HP might be a common lot or clubhouse from my study of the google aerial but it actually appeared to be a recently constructed residential structure. The way I came up kept the structure hidden from view until I popped up over the steep embankment. I did not realize that until I essentially just popped up on their private property and was tresspassing. I don't deliberately like to do that. Nobody was home and it was approaching dusk so I retreated quickly after tagging the top.
Sucessful day - 5 peaks (4 indiviudal CHPs) and acquired by five and half miles of jog-hiking and nearly 1000 feet of veritcal gain. Total time in the car and hiking for the day 5 hours before I found my hotel back in Ann Arbor.
