Ascent Trip Report

This was just before the eruptions in 2004 began that shut the mountain down. As we were on the summit rim near the crater we could see rock fall after rock fall which were probably low level earth quakes. It was a great day for the climb. First 2 miles are in trees...then you spend a couple miles going over a lava flow then the final push up the mountain is a scree field of 1 step up slide down...That was a rough 45 minutes.
