Ascent Trip ReportFrom Milford on U.S. 395 I drove up the steep Milford Grade about 6.5 miles to the turnoff from FSR 26N70 to Black Mountain. The 3+-mile road, rough in spots, leads to the top of Black Mountain, which houses communications facilities. The L.O., unstaffed today, is a short distance below the summit ridge. Back on FSR 26N70 I connected with FS 176 and FS 177, traveling down the west side of Dixie Mountain and its imposing volcanic bluffs back to CA 70.
