Ascent Trip ReportFrom CA 20 turn off at the Tulip Hill Winery on the Bartlett Springs Rd (M-12). This good dirt road, offering good views of Clear Lake, climbs steeply in 6.1 miles to Bartlett Mountain Summit. Turn here on FSR 16N01 (Pinnacle Rock sign) and go 1.3 miles; turn uphill at an unsigned intersection and after 0.4 mile, with a short, deeply rutted section, arrive at its end, where Pinnacle Rock first becomes visible. A short, rough use trail leads to the top of craggy Pinnacle Rock, where the L.O. was once located. Great views of Clear Lake and several peaks in Mendocino N.F.--Hull Mountain, Goat Mountain, Snow Mountain. I returned the long way to CA 20--from Bartlett Mountain Summit some 25 tiresome miles past forlorn Bartlett Springs and low-on-water Indian Valley Reservoir to the junction with Walker Ridge Rd and Brim Rd, which I descended to Bear Valley and exiting on the Bear Valley Rd at CA 20.
