Ascent Trip ReportAfter hiking up Indian Creek Baldy, I drove from Baldy Gap 5.5 miles on FSR 45N28 to the intersection with Mill Creek Rd (south) and McKinney Creek Rd (north). I continued straight ahead, still on FSR 45N28, 3.4 miles from the intersection to Collins Baldy L.O. on top of Bald Mountain. Although it is relatively low in elevation, this peak affords fine views, particularly of Boulder Peak, Preston Peak, Goosenest, and Mt. Eddy. The L.O. was built in 1934, remodeled in 1980 and today appears to be well maintained. It is regularly staffed during fire season. On the return at the intersection I followed Mill Creek Rd 8.8 miles down to Scott Bar on Scott River Rd., soon joining CA 96 at the confluence of the Scott and Klamath Rivers.
