Ascent Trip ReportFrom Sky Londa, Fred Jr. and I drove north on CA 35 and onto Bear Gulch Rd (west), a narrow but well paved road, for 0.6 mile to the unsigned intersection with Allen Rd. Then approx. 0.4 miles on Allen Rd, past several significant houses secluded among the trees, to an intersection at which three addresses--255,265,275--are affixed to a tree. A few yards uphill from the intersection the road enters a clearing with a communications tower and Calfire's nearby Allen L.O.
The tall, steel-framed L.O. appears to be in reasonably good shape, but is not regularly staffed and is surrounded by a locked perimeter fence. |
