Ascent Trip Report

On day one, Rick, Al and I backpacked from the end of the road at Cedar Grove up to East Lake. On day two, we dayhiked up Ouzel Creek to about 10,100' in elevation, then climbed onto and followed Brewer's east ridge to the peak's south ridge, then climbed up the south ridge to the summit. Most of this climb was on snow; however, the snow was just soft enough that crampons were not necessary on the way up, and very soft with some postholing and slow going on the way down. Also, the round trip took us about 16 hours and we returned to camp way after dark. On the day three, we backpacked out to the car.
