Ascent Trip ReportRick, Al, Dick and I day hiked Mount Abbot from Mosquito Flat via the peak's class 3 North Couloir route. From the trailhead, we followed the trail to Ruby lake, then went cross county to the Abbot glacier, passing Mills Lake on the way. Once at the glacier, our group cramponed up the snow and then the north couloir until we ran out of snow, stashed our ice gear, then climbed up the couloir to the peak's north ridge, which we followed to the summit. We had a rope, but did not use it.
