Ascent Trip ReportThe hike to Fiske Benchmark starts at the Blue Ridge TH (700') just beyond a locked gate after crossing Cache Creek from the Lower Campground of the Cache Creek Canyon Regional Park, about 9 miles south of the CA 16/CA 20 junction. A well maintained trail leads to the top of Blue Ridge in 3 miles and in another 1 mile tops out at Fiske Benchmark. Progress along the trail is measured by elevation stakes at 1,000', 1,500'. 2,000', 2,500'. The summit is marked by a 1941 USGS BM inscribed "Fiske." Despite some haze, good views of Cache Creek, the Capay Valley, Sutter Buttes, Mt. St. Helena, Cobb Mountain, Mt. Konocti, Hull Mountain, Anthony Peak, Snow Mountain, and the snow covered Yolla Bollas. A very enjoyable hike of a lesser known peak--about 8 miles RT and 2,100' elevation gain.
