Ascent Trip ReportThere are four 7180 contour areas within the next lower contour line. I walked three of them (the most westerly looked lowest and I ignored it.). I believe the small one slightly northwest of the one marked here is the highest spot. I got higher GPS readings on this one and observing each of them from the other one, it looked highest to me. To access it take the dirt road right off the highway at the west edge of Capulin. Veer right at the t and follow the road around to the west side of the peak ridge. My GPS put the distance to the hp coordinates at 0.43 mi. where I parked. Easy footing and not steep. Would have been 10 minutes each way if I hadn't wandered the ridge trying to figure out which of the bumps was the highest. Nice views of many volcanic peaks and bumps across the plains. |
