Ascent Trip Report

Take 78 to 7807 to 029. 7807 would be better with high clearance and 029 requires clearance due to water/motorcross erosion. At about 5040' there is a small marker indicating that the road is green dot (or whatever) and closed to cars. I parked here as the road was ending soon anyway according to the map. In theory a 4WD could make it to the ridge but there is no parking, road is bad, you don't gain much and it is officially closed to cars. Some snow still here even in late July. Anyway, walk the road up to the ridge where it becomes more of a motorcycle trail and less of a road. The trail junction is further W than mapped, right where the road hits the ridge. Regardless, just head straight and the trail switchbacks up to the summit. Nice views. There are two summit bumps with the first one holding the flat area where a lookout once stood and the BM being on the far summit. At a glance it looked like it might be a scramble over but it is just a steep walkup. Cliffs to the N. A very pleasant peak although too short to merit a trip on its own.
