Ascent Trip ReportWent for a test drive of my recently repaired 4WD Isuzu P'up and ended up at the trailhead to Provo Peak (west ridge), so I decided to take a hike. No backpack, so I tied a rope through my belt loops and strung two water bottles and a shaving kit turned fanny pack on the rope to improvise. Worked great.
Started the climb at about 1700h and missed the turn where the trail veers off the ATV track near the beginning of the hike. So I ended up bushwacking my way all the way to the top. Ugh! That added at least an hour to the climb (2.5 hours), and put me on some very steep, loose terrain. Met some climbers at the top who showed me where the trail was and it only took about 45 minutes to descend. Got hit with a strong, but short (10 minutes) thunderstorm near the top on the way down and got thoroughly soaked. |
