Ascent Trip Reportwhile staying at Mike's lakehouse at Lake Nantahala NC we decided to hike up a portion of the nearby "Bartram Trail". Thinking it was an easy "family trail", we were unprepared for the grade of the climb we were about to attempt. It was a very steep and lengthy climb that just continued from the road we started on. We hiked for a solid hour and a half until we hit a gap. We didn't know where we were going so we decided to turn back at that point as it was getting late and we were gassed. Later we found out the Bartram trail is a significant hiking path in that area - worth exploring further in the future.
