Ascent Trip ReportTried to get at Moolock from the North side near Hancock Lake but the Weyerhauser mainline was gated shut. Drove around to USFS 56 a few miles past Mailbox TH. Blue gate on the left. Went up the logging road for about 5.5 miles then left the road to gain the ridge, ended up being too early to gain the ridge, ridge was impassable, came back down to the road. After leaving the road again there was about a mile to gain and traverse the ridge and a few hundred feet of elevation from the logging road. Snow on the trail from about 3000' up with a significant amount approaching the summit. pretty steep the last couple hundred feet glad we had our ice axes. Summit was still corniced. weather was drizzly the first few miles then pouring rain and low visibility for the last 1000 feet.
Edit: apparently you can get onto the weyerhauser mainline with a key that comes as part of a permit from the Hancock Forest Group. looks like its $75!!!!
