Ascent Trip ReportMet my guide Luis in Arequipa. Equipment check, & then off to meet our transport, a 4x4 with another climbing party of 4. Drove around "El Misti", to the Chachani TH @ 13,000+'! Hike to set up camp @ 15000 +'. (lizards @ 14,000'!)
Summit morning beautiful, no wind, coca tea, passed other group of 1 guide, 3 climbers near the 17,000' level. (Gave my Diomox tablet to struggling member of other group.) Slow, winding grind up to summit. Beautiful, clear weather. The other guided party summited with only 1 of the 3 climbers making it to the summit. Great views into Chile & Bolivia. |
