Ascent Trip Report

To celebrate my 18th birthday the family and I went to Biscayne National Park and chartered a private boat to bring us to totten key. Since it was low tide the boat couldnt get that close so we had to wade to a small opening in the mangroves on the very north side of the island. WATER SHOES WERE EXTREMELY HELPFULL HERE. Once we got onto land we started following these faded red markings south into the island which led right up to what I feel was the highest point. On the highest point the markers stop and there is a tree that is very thick and the ground around it is about a foot higher than the surrounding area. This was the high point. I regret not bringing bug sprey as I am not able to stop scratching myself after leaving the island.
