Ascent Trip ReportI approached Mt Wilson from Hwy 93 at milepost 6 on the AZ side. I turned north on the unsigned road. Once on the road, I found it signed for the Black Joe Mine Road and that 4x4 was recommended. i followed the road 2.6 miles where it forked with a short deadend section going left. This is the trailhead. The road is more high clearance thatn 4WD with some rocky sections.
From the trailhead I crossed the wash on the left and hiked up the ridge on the other side. There is a faint braided climbers trail to follow. At about 4,000 ft the trail becomes more pronounced and easier to follow. Nothing magic or technical about climbing the ridge. There are some rocky outcroppings to go around. At the rocky summit block go to the right up some boulders until you can see a ramp leading up to the summit. Great views of Las Vegas, Lake Mead, Mt Charleston, and all the surrounding mountains.
