Ascent Trip ReportAnother great day out. Joined Heather for the end of her single season winter. We're planning on southern Presi traverse (how many peaks and direction were dependent on conditions). Forecast called for snow and strong and damaging winds, so we started from the HIghland Center to get Pierce and Ike - and maybe add on more depending on conditions. Turned out to be a nice day - sun peaked out in the morning, and clouds never descended to the summits - so we had good visibility all day. George was even visible much of the day. Amazingly there were NO WINDS. A bit of snow fell (down - not sideways). Wow. Warm pleasant day. Heather finished on Ike and we continued to Monroe, took a break on the hut roof, and had good sledding down Ammo. Despite a group from Moony Mountain guides tearing up the trail with crampons instead of snowshoes. Oh well. Had fun with Jeff, Heather and Dan. Ash turned back early due to her knee. |
