Ascent Trip Report

Mt Mitchell is notorious for its harsh winter conditions. Being a mountain climber this got me extremely excited. I was doing this hike solo because my dad was still recovering from Sassafras Mountain the day before and could not have done it. I was hiking via the mount Mitchell trail and was about a mile into it when it started to hail a little. It was cold but I was content and the trail was very well marked. The hike was challenging especially because I have tendinitis in both of my legs. This made each step agony but I usually don't have the chance to summit a mountain so I continued. After a few hours and inches of snow I made it the the windy top of mt Mitchell alone. 3 down 47 to go.
