Ascent Trip ReportOur goal was to climb the South Face of Harrison Peak (5.7+). Trisha and I left the car at the parking lot trailhead and started up the trail by 9am. After reaching Harrison lake by trail we followed a climbers trail up towards the mountain. Then after some scrambling we negotiated the ledges across the lower face until we reached the base of our climb. The climb itself is normally done in 3 pitches, however do to my inexperience, and smaller trad rack we ended up with 5 pitches total. The first 3 were easy 5.6 with lots of good holds, gear placement and numerous route options. The next pitch was the crux with a little bit of overhand up to a good ledge. Due to rope drag, I broke up this pitch into two. Finally we reached the summit and enjoyed the views while we ate lunch. On the way down we followed the east ridge until we could cut south. Then after almost a mile of bushwhacking we reached the trail and followed it back to the car. |
