Ascent Trip ReportWe approached Reyes Peak from Hwy 33 and the town of Ojai. It is a long drive up to the Pine Mtn summit where I turned right on Pine Mtn Rd numbereed 6N06. Zero your odometer and drive east, at 4.9 miles pass the Pine Mtn Campground, at 5.9 miles pass the Reyes Peak Campground, and at 7.3 reach the end of the road and the trailhead where there is an outhouse and a sing for the Sespe Wilderness. We car camped back at the Reyes Peak Campground and then returned to the trailhead in the morning.
We hiked east on the the trail a short ways where the trail splits left and right around the ridge. Take neither trail. Instead, take the climber's trail directly up the ridgeline. The trail goes directly to the rocky summit on the right. We also visited the high area across the trail to the left. Both these points are about the same elevation. Great views from the first high point.
