Ascent Trip ReportStayed Overnight at the Karwendelhaus and started my Hike in the Morning descending the Road to the Turnoff at the Grosser Schafstallboden. The View towards the Mountain looks ugly and as in Hindsight it did not not disappoint. Much Respect to anyone attempting this Peak which has no proper Trail or markings. Steep, Loose and Exposed Scramble, Hochkarspitze has it all. The first challenge is already to get to the First Screeslope on faint at best Hunters or Goat Trail. Surprisingly on the lower Screeslope itself a reasonable trail developed to make going easier. On top of the Screefield I lost the Path again and ended up in the Pines to fight my way up to the First Plateau. Time consuming and not very Smart I guess. Some Sparse Cairn guide you along but also not very reliable. The Going is though and Slow and I always wondered how the Hell I get through the Wall ahead of me. Guess what more Steep Loose Scree needs to be overcome to get up to the Ridge on the Right Side. From there it is a Steep but reasonable Slope to the Proper Ridgeline and towards the Summit. While not overly Difficult it is exposed at Times and Much Care is needed on Hand and Footing. The Highpoint is marked with a Cairn and Wooden Stake in a Plastic Tube. Did not find a Register but it might be buried deep inside the Cairn. What is there is a Square Granit Measuring Trig-point. After a few Pictures and admiring the View I gingerly retraced my Steps to the Point on the Lower Slope where I struggled to find a way through. Sure enough I ended up in the same situation and cliffed out. Not so much Fun with fading Daylight. After much back and forth eventually I made it down and past this precarious Spot. Whith the Last Ray of Daylight I turned the Corner and got down to the Road walking back to my Starting Point. The last 6 or more Km back to Scharnitz was actually enjoyment. A Tough Peak to say the Least and took me much longer as anticipated. http://rblr.co/OgQvp |
