Ascent Trip ReportAfter my descent from Needle Point I decided that 11 hours in my tent was too much so I decided to be a nightcrawler and packed up and started walking toward Culver Lake South. I camped off the main trail and along the trail going to Bear Lake and Lookinglass Lakes. In the morning I hiked up the trail until I found a break in the rock cliffs. The best way I can describe my route is to say that I walked the trail until I arrived at the first pond going up to Lookingglass lake. At the pond I surveyed the slope and was able to see a route up a draw WNW of the pond. I took this route until I reached the ridge. The summit is to the North (left), however, I saw a mountain goat to the minor peak to the south so I took the half mile + detour to try to get a photo (I failed). I summited early and decided to get set up for Krag Mountain and Red Mountain the next day. |
