Ascent Trip ReportThis trip was annoying. The entire north side of the range is private property, which I didn't know until I got on that side attempting to find a BLM road, which did not exist. A 50 minute drive around the south side got me nearer public land, although the roads aren't marked and a GPS with Garfield pre-marked will help you get in the right direction. I had to cross numerous fence lines to get near to Garfield, and the entire area was a goddamned cow pasture. A fire has damaged all the forest south of the peak and whats left is not very pretty. A fence line south of the peak running north/south has several big signs saying NO TRESPASSING, which I felt compelled to ignore in order to walk on the damn Earth leading toward Garfield. There are also several cabins within 1.5 miles from the peak, which, although empty, still stole away my sense of solitude. At least there are no bears.
