Ascent Trip Report

High Edge, Hollins Hill, Chrome Hill, Parkhouse Hill, High Wheeldon Peak District Ethels following https://www.walkingenglishman.com/ethels29.html to/from Earl Sterndale. Parked outside the church early afternoon. Setting off on a rather warm day (2022 heatwave, but before the Met Office Amber/Red warnings kicked in) with a get-out of cutting out High Wheeldon if I ran out of time. Bit a steady slog slowly uphill without bagging anything for a fair while, but good to get the boring bit out of the way first. Tempted to detour en-route to the nearby model flying field for a break, but thought better of it.

Having been warned by a couple at the summit of Chrome Hill, Parkhouse Hill is quite steep both up and down. It was a bit of a rocky scramble in places on the western elevation. Fine in good weather, but could be slippery if wet. After reaching the summit, it's a steady central ridge to the east before a reasonably steep and somewhat scree descent which had my poles out to steady.
