Ascent Trip Report

Snow along FSR 4948 forced me to park 1.4 m shy of the split with 120. Things are melting quick, but not quickly enough, as there's still significant snow in most areas along the roads, beginning at 3200'. I guess in the summer you could probably drive a high clearance 4x4 up to the hairpin on 120.

I didn't see any tracks, or see any reports, so maybe this was the first ascent of the year? Either way it's road walking until the hairpin turn, where you can finally see the summit for the first time. It looks just like a block perched above the trees. The slope up to the block has some snow on it. I headed up NE until the summit block, from here I moved east and found a little ramp to jump up onto the SE ridge, where it's a class 2 walk up. The NE side of this peak is pretty flat, but the W/SW sides have significant vertical drop.

Clouds were lingering around but I could see Kachess Lake, French Cabin Mountain, Thorp Mountain, Hibox
