Ascent Trip Report

We got to the parking lot Friday night around 11pm. Lots of people stirring about so we started hiking around midnight. The temps were warm and the skies clear so we slowly made our way up, taking periodic breaks to lay on the ground and gaze at the stars. By dawn we were high on the mountain and arrived at the summit to find ourselves all alone on the top of Mount Adams. Only a single 4x4 post stuck out of the snow from the old summit lookout structure buried beneath us. We lingered on top watching Mount St Helens burp ash clouds fro a while then hung around Pikers Peak a while longer waiting for the snow to soften up a bit for the long glissade down to the lunch counter. A number of groups were coming up from below at this point. What a great climb!
