Ascent Trip ReportWeather report said 0.2 mm to 3 mm rain. Wet weather gear worn. Rainforest, moss, fungi, creek spectacular. At creek juction photo taken with minimal water flow. Total whiteout on plateau, but well cairned for orientation. However! due to being totally soaked and very cold IPhone unable to open at times for App trails. Had to heat phone in dry sock at body temp for both phones to work. Upon descent, "minimal rain" had created flowing rivers on track - ankle deep at times. Witnessed 3 new heavily flowing waterfalls on return that were definitely not flowing that morning. At creek junction, worst fear! Creek too high and flowing too strong to cross for me. Son managed to cross and able to "dam up" with extra large rocks to give some footing. Lesson learned... it may have been only up to 3mm of rain however catchment area all flows into creek. Still a beautiful hike, despite being cold and wet all day... but hey! Its Tassie! 4 hrs 45 min hike |
