Ascent Trip ReportKelly and I hiked Gunstock and Belknap, starting from the parking lot near the end of Carriage Road. We hiked the Blue Trail about 0.5 miles to the intersection with the white-blazed trail, which we took toward the left, 0.4 miles to Gunstock. The trail came out onto a ski run, which we took up to the summit near the top of a chairlift. We then backtracked along the white-blazed trail and then took the blue-blazed trail up to the Belknap Mountain summit. We followed the red trail down from Belknap back to the parking lot to complete the 2.5 mile hike.
When we reached the summit of Belknap, we saw another couple beginning to walk down from the firetower. We then took our turn to climb to the top, and saw some impressive 360 degree views. We had sunny weather today, making for good conditions for a fire tower hike.
