Ascent Trip ReportShort/easy hike from summit parking ....... .8 miles, 30 minute RT.
From I91, exit 24 we traveled north on hwy 144 to East Burke to a right turn on Mountain Road (just north on the Church), 2.4 miles to the Toll Gate, pay the 5$ fee then drive 2.2 miles to the summit parking and the TH at the south left corner of the parking area.
The signed/blue-blazed Summit Trail leads left .4 miles to the rocky outcrop summit, topped with a fire tower, 3 Communication Towers and large buildings.
A new Wind Turbine has been installed just before you arrive at the parking, also new construction is in progress for a new Lift Station.
I should note that the drive to the summit is very steep making the descent very hard on the smoking/smelly breaks, I had to stop twice.
We drove to the White Mountain National Forest in NH and overnighted at the Big Rock Campground, on the Kancamangus Hwy, east of Lincoln.
