Ascent Trip Report

This is a one day attempt on The Temple in the Enchantments. Now I know why its a two day trip!

We left Snow Lakes TH at 5:30am on Saturday. Went up the trail for about 4 miles and then crossed the stream on some logs and scrambled a talus field (a Becky route) for about 3,000 feet heading toward Toketie Canyon. Had lunch at beautiful Toketie Lake then hiked through Toketie Meadows, Tamarack Meadows, and finally arrived at the base of the Temple massif.

We went up the right-most left-slanting gully and got to the top to Pogo Col. We were running short on time but decided to got for it. We reached to top at about 7pm but unfortunately we had climbed Stack Crag just west of The Temple and there was no reasonable way to traverse the ridge to The Temple in the day light that we had remaining. We decended from Pogo Col to Lake Vivianne, arriving at the trial at 9:30pm. Hiked out in the dark, arriving at the cars at 4:30am on Sunday. We did 7,200 feet and 20 miles. Very sore feet.

Dave, Walter, Jeremy, and Mark.
