Ascent Trip Report

Started in bare boots at 9 am on the Avalon Trail, quickly put on spikes, and then shortly thereafter, just before A-Z junction, switched to shoes which stayed on the remainder of this awesomely warm late winter day across and back along the Willey Range. No judgement, but saw a curious number of people w/o snowshoes; temps and fast-melting snow demanded them, and the good frequency of post-holes confirmed their necessity. Those who were wearing shoes had a much less stressful hike.
